Education

I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, NC in May of 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education grades Kindergarten through Sixth grade.  In 2012 I added Special Education to my teaching license.  I represented Stateside at the AVID Summer Institute in Orlando, Florida in July 2016.

Experience

In 2003 I began substituting for Onslow County Schools.  In 2004 I returned to school to pursue my  Elementary Education Degree.  In 2007 I accepted a position in the Onslow County School System as a Teacher Assistant for a high school Exceptional Children's class.   I left that position to complete my education and during this time returned to substituting.  I have held long term substitute positions in Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Fifth Grade, and in the Exceptional Children's department here at Stateside.  I knew that Stateside was where I wanted to call home.  In the fall of 2013 I began my first full time teaching position for Onslow County at Stateside.  During my first year I taught second and third grade exceptional children.  During my 2nd and 3rd year here at Stateside I taught kindergarten, first, and second grade.  I was designated lead teacher for the EC department during my 2nd year of teaching and am proud to be the Teacher of the year for the current school year; 2016-2017.  This is my fourth year with Stateside and I love it as much as I did the first day.

Bio

I have lived in Onslow County all of my life.  I graduated from Southwest High School in 1981.  I graduated from Mount Olive College with a business degree in 1982.  I graduated from University of Wilmington in 2009 with a degree in elementary education.  I married a retired US Marine in 2008 and we live in Richlands.  I have one son who is now twenty-five and lives in Georgia.  I love animals; I have a Rottweiller named Diesel, one sneaky cat; Rosa, 3 geese, 25 ducks, and 20 chickens.  When I'm not teaching or learning I like to swim, walk, camp, and go boating/fishing.  My long time passion has always been to teach; especially the exceptional child.  I'm very excited to be a part of the Stateside family and look forward to a very successful school year with your children.
