Bio

Hi!  I'm Wendy Craig and I'm the Art teacher and one of the Makerspace Facilitators at Stateside Elementary.  My husband, Christopher, and I have been married for 28 years and I have a son Ian (31) and a son Colin (25).  I also have two wonderful daughters-in-law, Tiffany and Valerie, and one adorable grandson, Jacob, 4.   In addition, I have 3 sweet "granddogs"; Iris, Arlo, and Sir Dudley!  My husband is a retired US Marine and now works for the General Services Administration with the Federal Government, Ian lives and works in Indiana, as the GM of a restaurant in Indianapolis and is loving being a Daddy, and Colin is a software developer in Raleigh.

I grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Studio Art and Art Education (GO SPARTANS!).  I was also on the dance/ pom pon team while at MSU.   After our marriage, the Marine Corps sent us to Beaufort, SC, where I taught in an Elementary school.  We then moved to Iowa, where I operated a Dance Studio and taught kids and adults tap, jazz, and ballet.  (I have always loved dance.)  From there, we spent a year in Quantico, VA, and then, 21 years ago, we came to Jacksonville, where we've been ever since.  We now consider Jacksonville our "home" and love it here.

My hobbies include working out, card-making and paper-crafts, knitting, reading and of course, art (drawing and "Zentangling" is my favorite).   I love all animals, especially dogs, and am the proud puppy-parent of 2 rescue-dogs, litter-mates named Bella and Chloe, whom we adopted in January 2014.  They are both hot messes, but we love them so!

I love the Michigan State Spartans and the North Carolina State Wolfpack!

I am thrilled to be a part of Onslow County's first elementary Makerspace!  Yes, we will still make and learn about ART, just in a new and exciting way!
