August 29-September 2

Hello Everyone,

Today we started a wonderful journey into second grade! I am excited to get this year started. It was wonderful meeting everyone at open house last week.

This week we will be working on procedures, labeling our supplies, doing some fun getting to know you and community building activities, as well as some pre assessments in spelling, writing, and math. We will also begin our introduction into Daily 5 which we will be using for our literacy block and Math Daily 3 which we will use during our math block.

This week I will send home a letter about my classroom and what to expect in second grade. The letter will be a flip book on bright paper.  If you would, please read over the information and let me know if you have any questions regarding the information. The best form of communication with me is through email.

I will be discussing behavior management with the students and implementing the clip chart on Tuesday. We will be going over the clip chart everyday this week to make sure the students have a good understanding of how it works.

This year we will be utilizing a new online learning platform, Edmentum, county wide. As soon as I get log-ins for your children I will be sending them home. In the front cover of the Stateside handbook is an area for you to write down user names and passwords in one location.

Homework folders will begin coming home Tuesday so we can get in the habit of taking them home each day. Homework will not begin until next Tuesday, September 6.

Reminders:

·         We will begin labeling supplies tomorrow. We will be using 5 notebooks and 3 folders to start the year so please make sure your student brings their supplies with them.

·         Return all Open House paperwork as soon as possible

·         We will have snack every afternoon. Please send in a snack for your child each day.

If you have any questions please let me know!
