Week of November 20  

Hello Stateside,

**A permission slip went home regarding a presentation from Mr. Slimgoodbody on November 29th. This presentation will be at Stateside. Cost $4.
Permission Slips and payment are due Tuesday, November 28th.

**Please bring back signed report card envelopes if you have not yet. 

**Operation Christmas Child. If you can donate any of the following items, please send them in with your child:

3rd Grade items to bring: small toys (dolls, stuffed animals, balls, dinosaurs, trucks), finger puppets, slinky, Etch A Sketch, musical instrument, yo-yo, frisbee, dress-up items, hacky sack, jump rope

Tuesday (E Day- Morning Wave P.E.): Learning Day.

Wednesday – Friday – No School Thanksgiving Holiday -ENJOY!

 

Learning Targets for the Week:

Reading: We will continue nonfiction texts.

Week of November 13  

Hello Patriot Families,

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

 

*My husband and I are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child at the very end of March! I will be announcing this to our third grade class on Monday.*

 

This is what is happening this week:

Monday (E Day- afternoon wave): Learning day. 

Tuesday (F Day): Learning Day.

Wednesday: A Day Learning Day 

Thursday (B Day -morning wave P.E.): Learning day. 

Friday (C Day): Spelling test week 8. Homework is due. Fall Festival is from 5:30 to 7:30. Please join us! It will be super fun and will be full of surprises!

 

Learning Targets for the Week:

Reading: We will begin with nonfiction text (students will be assessed on nonfiction test in the middle of the year benchmark.

Spelling: cloud, child, open, example, begin, chance, match, watch, batch, steel, speech, source, direction, travel, women, demonstrate

Math: Beginning multiplying with repeated addition.

Writing: Organization trait and research writing.

Social Studies: Themes of geography.

Week of November 6  

Hello Patriots,

A letter was sent home with students about Operation Christmas Child. Monday (B Day- Moring Wave, Gym Day): Learning Day.

Tuesday (C Day): Report cards will be coming home. If you haven't done so, please remember you can sign up into Power School to be checking on your child's grades.

Wednesday (D Day): We are going to our field trip to watch the play. We will eat lunch at around 1 p.m. at the school when we get back.  

Thursday (Half Day): We will have Morning Meeting and Veteran's Day activities. 

Friday (No School): Holiday: Veteran's Day

 

Learning Targets for the Week:

Reading: Continue characters of the story and asking and answering questions when reading.

Spelling: cloud, child, open, example, begin, chance, match, watch, batch, steel, speech, source, direction, travel, women, demonstrate (spelling test will be on Friday 17th).

Math: Repeated addition- Begining Multiplication.

Writing: Organization Trait.

Week of October 30  

Hello Patriot Families,

**We will be having a Fall Class Celebration in the afternoon on October 31. If you would like to volunteer to bring anything in for this, it is welcomed! Thanks!

 

Monday: (C Day) Red Ribbon: wear the school colors (red, white, and blue). 

Tuesday: (D Day) You can wear a Costume if you pay $1 (Supports NEHS). We will be having a Fall Class Celebration in the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer to bring anything in for this, it is welcomed! Thanks! End of the grading period.

Wednesday: (E Day- Afternoon wave) 

Thursday: (F Day) Learning Day.

Week of October 23  

Happy Sunday Patriot Families! I hope you have all had a great weekend. 

Please make sure students are remembering to charge their laptops and bring them to school everyday.

 

Monday: (D day) Red Ribbon Week - Wear Red! Math County Benchmark on Study Island.

Tuesday: (E day- afternoon wave) Red Ribbon Week - Wear mismatched or crazy socks!

Wednesday: (F day) Red Ribbon Week - wear bright colored clothes or accessories!

Thursday: (A day) Ident-A-Kid picture day - 9:00 (this is optional and information will be coming home soon).

Red Ribbon Week- wear mismatched clothes!

Friday: (B day- morning wave with P.E.) Red Ribbon Week -Wear your CLASS colors (3rd Grade – Green)!

Learning Targets for the Week:

Reading: Power hour for reading will begin this week.  This is used to provide students of all reading levels with the appropriate level of support to grow them as readers. 

We will also be starting a unit on characters.  This will come with a new RTA standard as well.  This will be the second standard we will be working on.  

Math: Telling time.

Social Studies: 5 themes of geography.

A few reminders for the week:

Monday: no school for students.

Tuesday:  (Wave Day B- students have PE) please send in signed interim reports.

                  School picture Day! 

                  Conferences will begin in the Media Center.  Please make sure you have signed up for a time. 

Wednesday: (C Day) Fire Safety Event- 2nd and 3rd grade will go from 9:30-10:00 in the multi-purpose room. 

Thursday:  (D Day) active day of learning.

Friday: (WAVE Day E) Spelling test will be next week. 

 

Learning Targets:

Reading: inference and summarizing.

Math: adding and subtracting within 1000. 

Social Studies: 5 themes of geography.

Writing: organization of the paper as well as the writing process.  Working on students ability to organize their thoughts into paragraphs and write 5 paragraphs with AT LEAST four sentences in each. 

Grammar: Mechanics, proofreading, and statements and questions.

Dear STES families,

I hope everyone is enjoying this weekend! It is beginning to feel like Fall!

*PLEASE SEND IN FEDERAL CARDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

*Parent Conferences will be held Oct. 10, 11, 12 and 16. A sign up schedule will be going out this week.

                           New homework and behavior calendar will be sent home. Also, I will send the new Math homework worksheet (remember

                           that students should pick only 1 problem per night. For example: on Monday they pick 1 task from the Monday column and

                           solve it. Tuesday 1 task and solve it.)

Tuesday: (D Day) Read To Achieve Night 5:30 pm- 6 pm. I hope to see everyone here, as we will explain RTAs, how we will be working with

                           them this year, and how they affect your child's grade.

Wednesday: (E Day afternoon wave).

Thursday: (F Day).

Friday: (A Day) Spelling Test.

Week of September 18  

Hello Patriot Families,

Students are taking the computers home now. Please remind your child to charge the computer every night. They are not allowed to charge it in school and are not allowed to bring the charger to school.

If you have not paid school fees and laptop fees, please do so.  They are $31 and students HAVE to pay them to take their laptops home.

Here are a few friendly reminders for the week:

Tuesday: (A-Day)

Wednesday: (B-Day) Morning WAVE day, we will have PE. Make sure your Patriot is wearing appropriate attire.

Thursday: early release day. We will have our first full school Morning Meeting in the multipurpose room. After this, students will have "clubs" with the 3rd grade teachers for an hour. It will be a fun and great learning experience for the students! Students will dismiss at 12:20.

Friday: (C-Day) homework due

                         Spelling test on list 2.

Week of September 11  

Hello Patriot Families,

Students were given laptops on Thursday.  Please make sure that you have sent in your laptop fees as well as your student’s paper work.  Students will need to have everything turned in before computers go home.  We are holding them until mid-week to ensure that all laptops are there for the BOG’s. 

We started spelling last week.  I sent home a copyof their words, but there is no spelling homework.  The students are practicing in class.  We will be taking the Spelling Test on E-Day’s from now on.  This week that will be on Friday.  I will always let you know when spelling words are changing as well as when spelling test are going to occur.  

MClass assessments start Monday.  After all assessments are complete (2+ weeks) please be on the lookout for conference request. 

Monday National Day in Remembrance of 9/11. I would love for our students to wear red, white, and blue if possible.

Tuesday will be a B-Day, which is when students will have PE. Please make sure they are wearing appropriate attire for PE.

Wednesday students will be taking their BOG in the morning.  Please make sure students are on time, had a good night sleep, and eat breakfast so they are in their best mindset for this test. 

Friday will be an E-Day. We will have our spelling test in the morning.  This will also be our afternoon WAVE Day.  Please make sure that homework is turned in on Friday.

Reading: Keep establishing Daily 5 procedures and routines. 

            Practice testing procedures for BOG and good practice.

            Establish online reading environment.

First Day  

Hello Families,

We had a wonderful start to our new year today! A highlight of the day was reading the book "First Day Jitters." All of all of us were suprized by the ending! Make sure to ask your child about it tonight. Stay tuned to the news for update on the weather which may affect school tomorrow. Also Friday will start our wave day schedule and we will have P.E. first thing in the morning. I am looking foward to a great year with our wonderful third grade class.
